Sunday at the art gallery
This was my first time visiting our recently renovated & extended Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and it was so incredibly inspiring and nurturing for the artist’s soul. ♡
I was (rightfully) reprimanded, because I got too close to the paintings (especially Andy Warhols “100 Cans” – admiring all the little pencil sketch marks, covered up paint smudges and dirt around the edges of the canvas of this intriguing work, which added so much to its beauty and character. It reminded me that art isn’t about perfection, and that the “mistakes” I make don’t make me less of an artist. I like to look very closely at paintings, because I admire the smallest details like all the brush strokes, the tangibility of the paint and the surface as well as the structures that form as the two merge. It helps me get to know the painting more personally. I’m also taking in the colors, let myself feel their effect in my core. And sometimes I imagine stepping into a painting as if I was part of it, surrounded by ancient landscapes or scenes.
And I jotted down quite a few ideas and insights on the little notepad that I always carry with me 😌📝✨
In short: I can’t wait to go back!! If you need some inspiration on gloomy November days, definitely visit your local art gallery!
